This is without a doubt one of the most impressive uses of engineering layout I've seen in quite some time. Actually, I may 'borrow' the color scheme you utilized here for my own work as it would greatly enhance it's presentation.
Let's see if CCP contacts you and several other non-semi-finalists.
And I could place your ship on the wall at CCP's "art department" - they are across the street. But if they let "DA staff" to select what's right and wrong - maybe there is no point to talked to them really
this one and another I've just seen called Horus look like they should be two of the final few. Not sure about the other yet! This is great work - linking the idea of mixing the faction designs in this way. Great stuff!
Are you still working with/for CCP? The work looks like a winner for me but your involvement into "a CG movie called "Darwin's Contraption" wich is based in the EVE Online Universe." causing some concern
Ruslengingur:- lol i have never worked with or for CCP!! "Darwin's contraption" was a fan base project! none of the people involved worked for CCP, we were all unpaid eve players! doing it out of love for the game! hope that puts your mind at rest!!
Ruslendingur:- again no m8. this isn't a leftover from "darwin`s contraption" its a completely new model. purposely designed and built for the competition, by me and only me!! thanks for your comments! i doubt ill win as there are far better designs than mine! (it would be nice tho)
It's simple. Your ship is the only one I could remember from the bunch of other designs. There are some interesting ones - but if asked to describe/sketch them I won't be able to do it. Why so? Do you remember the Pyramids? Same reason - a perfect composition. You can't remove or add something without changing/destroying the composition (this basic "wisdom" is taught at the first year of art school - a good one of course). And you could add or remove whatever in other ships - and nobody would notice really. Your ship is simple and there are many others on same principle - but the shapes, the relations among elements, level of details make it special. And excellent solution with texture - when colors play alongside with the form!
And apart from art - the model can be integrated into the game perfectly. In terms of texturing and polygon count (many other interesting ships won't fit into game's engine I'm afraid).
PS. could you point out far better ones cause I don't see them
I would pick your work for the best 15th. Not very original but really well balanced and looks like a very real thing. I would argue with the scale only - ~100 m. And excellent presentation of the concept to enjoy!
